We'll sit and talk for a few minutes to see how you are feeling physically and/or emotionally (if appropriate). You'll lie on the massage table clothed, but shoeless.
I take a moment to settle myself before gently placing my hands. The contact may not neccessarily be at the head. It may be anywhere: at the feet, side, shoulders or sacrum, for instance.
I slow down my own internal tempo, quieting my mind and heart rate. When the body is not rushed, and is deepy listened to, it can rewrite how it holds its story, reorganize its patterns and create change.
To watch me work is a bit like watching the grass grow. I "listen" with my hands, attuning to the natural rhythms in our body, then get out of the way of the work you are doing. That is an important point to me. It is a matter of paying careful attention and not directing or manipulating. It is your body that does the work of self-correcting.
I do not manipulate bones or tissues.
As the work unfolds, you may become aware of subtle (or not so) motions within your body, making adjustments and creating balance. I often sense that through the bio-electric "fluid" field of the body and its fascia.
We may or may not talk during the "table-work" according to need. You may doze off. The central nervous system does great repair work suring REM sleep, and cerebrospinal fluid flows more abundantly during deep states of rest.
When we're finished, don't rush to sit up. You may feel a little spacey for a few minutes. Allow some free time for yourself after our appointment to assimilate the work. Later you may notice things continuing to unfold as your body reorganizes.
Because your system will still be self-corecting, it is recommended that you wait 72 hours before receiving a massage, chiropractic or similar.
The work has a cumulative effect, each session building on the previous ones, so some issues require a number of sessions to see lasting results. However, my plan is never to string you along. If I can't help you, I will always be happy to point you toward someone or something else that may.
